Object Tools Workbench
The Visual Eiffel workbench is a powerful tool which gives you total control. Here is
an introduction to some techniques used throughout the workbench:
We did our best to make everything in the workbench orthogonal. This means that
everything is done in the same way, even if it happens in a different context. The
workbench is divided into three areas:
- The editing area allows you not only to edit programs, but is also used to
display debugging information and to assemble inheritance graphs. This area allows you to
view and modify all types of information in all different forms.
- The navigation area allows the fast text oriented browsing through the classes of
the system or the repository. Beside this the stack is displayed in this area during
program execution and makes navigation with objects easy.
- The viewer area is the place where information is displayed. In some situations
this information can be moved to the editing area using drag&drop.
We will learn more about these areas more in the tutorial.

We appreciate all suggestions you may make for further enhancements.
